Learning to use the Library's online catalog
To locate the materials you want within our Morton Library collection, you will need to learn to use our Library's catalog. This is a very rich collection of over 400,000 items, and sometimes it feels as though you are looking for a needle in a haystack. But if you acquire a few basic skills, your job will get a little easier. This tutorial will introduce you to some of the most useful features of our catalog and will also alert you when new capabilities are added.
Access to the catalog
You can always reach our catalog from the Library's website at http://library.upsem.edu. Click on the word CATALOG near the top of the screen, or choose the Catalog link under RESEARCH. You can also link to the login screen directly at http://morton.union-psce.edu:8991/F. It isn't necessary for you to log in simply to look up something in our catalog. We invite the public to use it at any time.
The login screen
If you decide to log in, you will have access to your own Library account, so you can see how many books you have borrowed, their due dates, any fines or other messages, and you can renew your books if you wish. You will be able to use features of the catalog (such as the e-Shelf and Preferences) that only work properly when they are associated with a specific user. Also, logging in gives you access to any proprietary information that is available only to our authorized users because of restrictions on our site license. For more information, see Access your own library account.
First, look for the link that says Sign-in at the top left corner of the catalog page.

TO LOG IN : enter your Library User Barcode in the first box. This number was given to you at our Circulation Desk when you first registered as a Library patron; it's printed on your Library access card. In the User PIN box, enter the first three letters of your last name. Then, click the Log On button.

Remember, you will need your card with the barcode on it in order to check out any materials from the Library. You also need it to open the security turnstile at the Library's main entrance. So be sure to bring it with you every time you come to the William Smith Morton Library.
